The Immersion Program

"I really liked when more interactive components were imbedded in the courses (ex: Family Feud, Jeopardy, role play scenarios). That helps a lot with retention instead of sitting and being lectured at. The case studies are valuable to learn from but also have helped me to look at the athletes I work with in a case study setting, essentially taking what I'm learning and build out a case study for me to look at the whole picture when working with them.” - Melissa Sousa, LCSW

Become Certified in Athlete Clinical Mental health

The CCSSWI Immersion Program is strictly a clinical program! Our students are working towards a SPLSW designation – which will become a nationally recognized designation in the sports world.

The SPLSW designation will foster great trust and hopefully lead to greater employment possibilities in the sports industry.

This program is for social workers, psychologists, counselors, etc. who want to enhance their clinical skills in a sports context.

“I thoroughly enjoyed completing the Immersion Program. Each topic was unique to the athlete experience, and each class had materials for any type of learning style. We watched videos, read articles, played interactive games, and had candid discussions about the challenges involved in the athletic experience. Other speakers were brought in to share their professional insight and lived experience with us which was super helpful. Classes were flexible and homework assignments were meaningful. Overall, I feel like I gained so much knowledge from this program and made connections with great people working in this field.”  – Arielle Holloway, LCSW
